Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that no untoward incident has occurred so far in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Tuesday (September 9), he said, “The elections of DUCSU, JACSUS, and other student unions will be regarded as models for the national election.”
The adviser further informed that in the law-and-order coordination meeting, it was noted that the voting process at Dhaka University is being conducted peacefully and smoothly. No incidents of violence have been reported, nor have the media carried any such news.
He expressed hope that after DUCSU, the upcoming elections of JACSUS and other student unions will also be held in a fair and festive atmosphere. He added that since the law-and-order situation remains under the government’s control, it will be possible to ensure fair elections.
