Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has alleged that BNP’s Awami League Affairs Secretary Rumin Farhana is, in reality, a beneficiary of the ruling Awami League.
He made the remarks on Sunday (August 24) at a press conference protesting the assault on NCP leader Ataullah and several activists during an Election Commission hearing.
Hasnat Abdullah said, “Among those who can be called Awami League’s products, Rumin Farhana is one of them. She often claims that she has been ‘better off’ over the last 15 years. Of course, she would be, because she has availed all sorts of facilities provided by the Awami League.”
Questioning the role of the Election Commission, Hasnat stated that the EC has turned into the office of certain political parties rather than acting as a neutral body. He alleged that while police obstructed NCP leaders and activists from entering the commission premises, BNP activists were allowed free access.
Hasnat further added that the role of the Election Commission has always remained questionable to the people of the country.
