In the past 24 hours, five people have died after being infected with dengue fever. During the same period, 311 new dengue patients have been admitted to various hospitals across the country. This information was confirmed in a notice sent on Thursday from the Health Emergency Operation Center of the Directorate General of Health Services.
Among the deceased are three women and two men. Currently, the total number of dengue patients in hospitals across the country is 1,293. Of these, 440 patients are admitted to hospitals in the capital. Among the newly admitted patients, the highest number—82—are from the Barisal division, while a total of 112 are from the two city corporation areas of the capital.
So far this year, the total death toll from dengue has reached 110. Of these, 27 deaths occurred in August alone. Although the situation is somewhat under control compared to last year’s severe conditions, the dengue outbreak remains at a concerning level.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Bangladesh saw the most severe dengue outbreak, with 321,179 patients hospitalized and 1,705 deaths. The Directorate General of Health Services has stated that all preparations have been made to combat dengue.
