Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s Special Assistant, and the chief coordinator of the Nationalist Workers’ Party, Shamsur Rahman Shiamul Biswas, has fallen ill and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital. He fell unwell last Monday while traveling to Dhaka from Pabna and was promptly admitted. His pre-existing lung condition has led to complications including breathing difficulties and sleep disorders, worsening his health.
Shiamul Biswas’s son, Nipun Biswas, stated that his father’s condition is now stable. Doctors are conducting tests, including for Chikungunya, to diagnose and rule out other potential illnesses. The family has requested prayers from everyone for his swift recovery. Following the doctor’s strict instructions, only immediate family members are currently permitted to visit him.
Meanwhile, the news of his illness has saddened the Nationalist Workers’ Party. The party’s Propaganda Secretary, Manzurul Islam, announced that all district, metropolitan, basic union, and regional committees have been urged to organize prayer meetings for the swift recovery of Shiamul Biswas, whom he described as a true friend of the working class. Party members at all levels are uniting in prayer for him during this critical time.
