The dengue situation in the country has become increasingly alarming. Eight more people have died from dengue in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 1,733 patients were admitted to hospitals, marking the highest number of single-day hospital admissions for dengue this year.
This information was disclosed on Monday (September 14) in a regular press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to DGHS data, the patients admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours include 191 in Barishal Division, 191 in Chattogram Division, 388 in areas of Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 170 in Dhaka North City Corporation, and 143 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Additionally, dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Khulna Division (302), Mymensingh Division (110), Rajshahi Division (145), Rangpur Division (86), and Sylhet Division (7).
As of September 14 this year, the total number of patients hospitalized with dengue in the country stands at 53,570. Of these, 49,375 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
The DGHS reported that 1,282 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country. With these latest figures, the total death toll from dengue this year has risen to 157.
Statistics from recent years also highlight the severity of the dengue situation. From January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 102,861 people were hospitalized with dengue in the country, and 413 people died from the disease that year.
Prior to that, in 2024, 101,214 people were hospitalized with dengue in the country, and 575 people died from this mosquito-borne disease.
