The government has decided not to use any honorary words, including ‘Your Majesty’ and ‘honourable’, before the designation of the presidents, prime ministers, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers. The directive will be implemented immediately in government official communication, documents and summary.
The directive was issued in a circular signed by Deputy Secretary Tania Afroz from the General Branch of the Cabinet Division on Wednesday (September 9th).
The circular said that “Your Majesty”, “Your Majesty” or any other honorary words cannot be used in writing before their posts during official contacts and presentations with the heads of state and ministers.
The directive has been sent to all ministries, departments and subordinate departments for course. A copy of the circular has also been sent to the prime minister’s principal secretary, all senior secretaries and secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers and chief information officers.
