President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has arrived in his home district Thakurgaon on a two-day official visit. He landed at the Mohammad Ali Stadium ground in Thakurgaon by helicopter from Dhaka at 12:58 pm on Sunday (September 6).
The President was welcomed by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, Superintendent of Police Md. Belal Hossain and members of the civic reception organizing committee. Later, the President went to the Circuit House and received a guard of honor.
On the first day of the visit, he is scheduled to visit the Senua Cemetery in the city and pay homage to his parents. After that, he will go to his home in the Kalibari area of the city. After lunch and rest, he is scheduled to attend a reception organized by the Citizens’ Committee at the large field of Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School at 3 pm.
After the reception, the President will return to his residence and meet dignitaries, relatives, and locals. He will stay at his residence for the night.
Second day program
The President will hold courtesy calls on dignitaries, relatives, and locals from 9:30 am on Monday (September 7), the second and final day of the visit.
Later, he will lay the foundation stone of the proposed ‘Thakurgaon University’ in Jamalpur area of Sadar Upazila along the Thakurgaon-Pirganj road. After returning to his residence, after lunch and rest, he will go to the Circuit House and receive the guard of honor.
The President is scheduled to depart for Bangabhaban by helicopter from the helipad of Thakurgaon Stadium at around 2 pm.
Extensive security arrangements have been made in Thakurgaon for the President’s visit. Law enforcement officers have been deployed in important areas including the Mohammad Ali Stadium, Circuit House, Senua Cemetery and his own residence. Security surveillance has also been strengthened.
