No drugs were found in the dope test of Siddharth Das and Agash Das arrested in connection with the murder of four members of the same family in Rangpur. Rangpur Metropolitan Police spokesperson and deputy commissioner (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon.
He said samples of the two accused were collected from the jail gate of Rangpur Central Jail on Sunday for security reasons. Later, the presence of amphetamine was not found when samples were tested in the lab of Rangpur Medical College.
Samples were collected for the dope test on Sunday afternoon. The in-charge of the detective branch of the police, the investigation officer of the case and a technologist of the Rangpur Medical College and an assistant were present on the occasion.
Four members of the same family were killed
Police recovered the bodies of retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife, daughter and son from a locked house in Mashuapara (Daspara) area of Rangpur city on August 22.
Apash Das and Siddharth Das were arrested in connection with the incident. Gopinath Chakraborty, the elder brother of the deceased, filed a case with Kotwali police station.
According to the police, the two accused have claimed responsibility for the killing by placing statements under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the court. The case is currently being investigated by the Detective Branch (DB) of the police.
However, according to the results of the dope test, there was no evidence that they had taken drugs during or before the killing.
