The Election Commission (EC) has released the final list of voters ahead of the upcoming local government elections. According to the updated list, the total number of voters in the country is now 12 crore 87 lakh.
EC secretary Akhtar Ahmed told reporters at the election building on Monday (August 31st).
According to the EC, those who have attained the age of eighteen years as of July 31 have also been included in the final voter list. The total number of voters in the new update has increased to 54 lakh.
In the final list, male voters are 6 crores, 56 lakhs, 665 people and women voters 6 crore 32 lakhs 65 thousand.
According to the Voter Listing Act, 2009, after the publication of the draft list, application for amendments through Claims, Form-7 through Form-7 and amendments through Form-8. According to the EC’s scheduled time, these applications were accepted until August 24th after the draft list was published on August 9th. Later, the application was settled by August 27th and the corresponding decision list by August 28.
On Monday, the Election Commission released the final list of voters.
The EC said it plans to hold a phased vote from November by announcing the schedule of local government elections in September. According to the initial plan, union councils and municipal elections can be held before.
