Bangladesh could overtake Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand in five years: IMF

  • Bangladesh’s economy is likely to grow significantly in the next five years. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast, Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) could reach $677 billion in 2030.
    If this calculation is implemented, Bangladesh can surpass Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand in the form of an economy.

    The IMF’s report on “The $150 trillion Global Economy in 2030” by the Canada-based visual capitalist highlighted the IMF’s forecast.

    According to the report, Bangladesh’s potential GDP in 2030 was $677 billion. At the same time, Malaysia’s GDP could reach $672 billion, Vietnam’s 667 decimal 5 billion and Thailand’s $647 billion. As a result, according to the forecast, Bangladesh is likely to move forward compared to these economies in South and Southeast Asia.

    Germany-India competition

    The IMF forecast that the United States will remain the largest economy in the world in 2030. At that time, the country’s GDP could reach about $37 trillion.

    China will be in second place with a $26 trillion economy. After that, there will be a hard-fought competition between Germany and India with the third place.

    According to the forecast, Germany’s GDP could stand at $6,78 billion in 2030 and India’s $6 thousand 173 billion. This means that the gap between the two countries is only $5 billion. At the same time, the size of the UK economy could be $5,400 billion.

    The vast majority of global GDP

    According to the report, the world’s five largest economies produce 53 per cent of global GDP. The United States alone represents more than a quarter of the global economy.

    The list of potential major economies of 2030 is predicted to be the United States, China, Germany, India and the United Kingdom, as well as Japan, France, Brazil, Italy and Canada.
