Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s visit to Thakurgaon has been postponed. The district administration said it was scheduled to go to Thakurgaon on a two-day visit on August 30 and 31, but it has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.
Thakurgaon deputy commissioner and deputy magistrate Mohammad Rafiqul Haque confirmed the matter on Wednesday afternoon. He said the new schedule of the president’s visit could be fixed in the next one or two days.
Earlier, the district administration had started the necessary preparations ahead of the President’s visit. Government departments concerned were instructed to be ready on various issues including administrative system, housing, vehicles.
In a letter sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Thakurgaon from the Protocol Branch of the Apan Division of the President’s Office on Monday (August 24), it was said that the President will visit the district on August 30 and 31. He was due to return to Dhaka on August 31st. The passengers were also asked to take necessary measures for transportation, accommodation and vehicles. However, the detailed schedule of the visit and the list of the approved guests were sent later.
This was the first visit of Mirza Fakhrul to Thakurgaon in his district after taking oath as president. As a result, there was a lot of interest among the local residents around the visit. In addition to the district administration, various government departments are also preparing. The preparations for the trip have finally stopped.
Winning the Presidential Election
BNP candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected with 255 votes in the parliamentary elections held on August 20. He is the candidate of the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance and chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Colonel (retd) He defeated Ahmed.
The next day, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sworn in as the 23rd President of the country at the historic Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on August 21.
