A Dhaka court on Wednesday framed charges against former National Board of Revenue (NBR) official Matiur Rahman for allegedly acquiring wealth worth around Rs 5 crore. His bail application has also been rejected.
On Monday (August 3rd), Dhaka Divisional Special Judge BM Tariqul Kabir’s court framed charges and fixed the date for the hearing on September 14.
In the morning, Motiur Rahman was produced before the court from the jail. After hearing the allegations, he pleaded guilty and sought justice. The court then formally filed a complaint against him.
Later, the ACC opposed the petition when the lawyers of the accused applied for bail. At the end of the hearing, the court rejected the bail petition.

Through the abuse of government power, bribery and corruption, he has acquired known non-income assets of Rs 5 crore, ₹ 97 thousand and ₹672.

The ACC investigation found information about 65 bigha land, eight flats, two resorts and picnic spots and three industries in the name of Matiur and his family. Besides, bank accounts in their name, mobile financial services (MFS) accounts and BO accounts of the stock market were also seized.
