U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gore, said a group of US investors will visit Dhaka next week to assess the potential for investment in Bangladesh.
He said this after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday (August 1st).
Referring to the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office as ‘Fruitful’, Gore said US investors will review potential areas during their visit to Bangladesh and discuss investment opportunities.
The meeting also discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States and expanding economic cooperation.
In a post on social media (X) after the meeting, Sergio Gore said the Prime Minister discussed the various opportunities and possibilities in front of both sides to further strengthen the economic partnership between the two countries. He expressed hope that the real and positive results would be achieved through joint efforts.
Earlier on Friday, he visited the Rohingya shelters in Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. He was briefed on the life of the refugees, humanitarian assistance and the overall situation in the camp. During the visit, he also interacted with concerned government officials, international organizations and representatives of humanitarian aid agencies.
The Trump administration’s special envoy arrived in Dhaka on a three-day official visit on July 30. His visit is seen as part of the ongoing diplomatic dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States and strengthening economic cooperation.
