The Indian government has said that former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is on Indian soil, is not allowed to carry out any political activities.
This information was given in the official statement of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.
The report, titled ‘The Future of India-Bangladesh Relations’, presented in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, said Sheikh Hasina has been given the opportunity to stay in India under her policy of providing shelter to those at risk of life and security as part of human heritage and civilisational values.
According to the report, the concerned authorities of India are reviewing the request of Sheikh Hasina’s extradition on behalf of the government of Bangladesh according to the existing law and the prevailing process.
The Indian government claims that Sheikh Hasina is staying in India but she is not allowed to carry out any political activities from there.
However, on time, Sheikh Hasina has also discussed information that she has held meetings, statements and interviews with the party leaders in the international media.
Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and went to India after the 2022 student uprising. Since then he has been living there. However, the Indian government has not yet made it public how it is located in the country.
