The government has withdrawn the order to revoke the license of the Ad-Din Hospital in the capital’s Moghbazar. The hospital has been given permission to resume medical care conditionally considering the recommendations and reports of the inquiry committee.
This information was given in an order issued by the health department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday (July 27th).
Supreme Court lawyer Shishir Monir also confirmed the reinstatement of the hospital’s license. In a Facebook post, he wrote, “Alhamdulillah. Ad-Din Medical College Hospital has regained his license.”
The death of six newborns in the post-delivery ward-2 of the Ad-Din Hospital on May 27th caused a stir across the country. The Ministry of Health has formed a committee to investigate the incident.
The investigation report identified the lack of oxygen, the closure of long-time air conditioning (AC) system, lack of alternative ventilation, increased carbon dioxide levels in the ward and the negligence of the hospital authorities as the cause of death.
In this context, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) suspended the hospital’s license. Later, the Ad-Din Hospital authorities requested to reinstate the license demanding that necessary corrective measures be taken.
In light of the application and investigation report, the government has decided to reinstate the hospital’s license. As a result, the institution will be able to conduct medical care activities again under conditional terms.
