  • The interest of the audience has peaked around the much-awaited match between Argentina and England in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
The demand for tickets has increased enormously, focusing on the two traditional football power struggles and the possible last World Cup campaign of Lionel Messi. As a result, the price of tickets in the resale market has also increased significantly.

FIFA’s approved resale (resell) platform showed that the minimum price of the match was ‘Categoy-3’ ticket worth more than ₹2,000, which is equivalent to about Rs 3 lakh in Bangladeshi currency. On the other hand, the price of some tickets for VIP and premium seats has reached up to $50 thousand. The price of these tickets is constantly changing on the basis of demand and supply.

The price of tickets for the matches between Argentina and Switzerland in the quarter-finals was much lower. The minimum ticket price for the match in Kansas City was around $800.

Tickets for the other semi-finals, where France and Spain will face, are being sold at a relatively low price. The minimum ticket price for the match on FIFA’s resale platform is about $300. Some tickets are also available at a relatively low price on various approved resalable platforms.

According to analysts, the increase in ticket prices around the big matches is not unusual in international sports. Especially against a limited number of seats, the price of the resale market rises several times.

For the first time in this World Cup, FIFA has officially launched an approved resal sale system. The platform is being operated in line with the ticket system of conventional sports events in the United States. Through this, the audience is able to resell tickets according to the prescribed rules and efforts are being made to ensure transparency in the ticket trade.

According to FIFA’s forecasts, the company’s revenue is likely to reach billions of US dollars from ticket sales and related commercial activities before the start of the World Cup.
