At least 40 people have been killed after a passenger bus fell into a deep canyon in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. At least eight others were seriously injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital and rescue operations are underway.
At least 40 people have been killed in a deadly road accident in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The tragic accident occurred on Friday (July 3rd) when a passenger bus lost control and fell into a deep canyon.
According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, the bus started its journey from the Dana fertilizer area in the Sherani district of Balochistan province. The bus fell into a deep ditch when the driver lost control immediately after entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
At least eight others were seriously injured in the accident. They are being treated at a nearby hospital. Local authorities said the condition of some of the injured was critical.
On information, the administration, rescue workers and emergency services rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Rescue operations are taking place in the remote area.
Shahid Rind, a spokesman for the Balochistan provincial government, confirmed the crash. Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti expressed deep shock at the incident. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and directed the authorities concerned to ensure maximum treatment of the injured.
