  • Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended his warmest greetings to the Muslim community around the world, including Bangladesh, on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Adha. In a video message and separate message on Wednesday, he emphasized sacrifice, piety, self-purification and human values as the main lessons of Eid.

The Prime Minister said, “The holy Eid-ul-Adha has once again arrived at the doorsteps of Muslims around the world with the culmination of sacrifice, the glorious guidance of piety, and the unique message of self-purification. I extend my Eid greetings to the countrymen, regardless of party affiliation, religion, or caste. Eid Mubarak.”

He mentioned that Eid-ul-Azha is not just a religious ceremony or a joyous festival; it is a profound symbol of surrender, sacrifice and human spirit towards Allah Almighty. The teachings of unconditional obedience and sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) inspire the Muslim Ummah to follow the path of truth, justice and moderation.

The Prime Minister said, “Sacrifice is not limited to just slaughtering animals; rather, the true significance of sacrifice is the lesson of overcoming greed, jealousy, hatred, and inhumane instincts in the human heart.”

Calling for the practice of compassion and harmony in society, he said that those who have the ability to sacrifice should share the sacrificial meat with the less fortunate. This will implement the humanitarian and social education of Eid.

The Prime Minister also called for awareness about the environment and cleanliness. She said that citizens should play a responsible role in properly preserving the skin of sacrificial animals and quickly removing waste. She called on everyone to participate in the cleanliness drive from their respective positions, along with supporting the sanitation workers.

In the final part of the video message, the Prime Minister wished for peace, security and stability for the country, the nation and the world. He prayed to Allah Almighty that the lessons of sacrifice on Eid-ul-Azhar bring positive changes in people’s personal, social and national lives.
