Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is visiting Chandpur after a long 22 years. A festive atmosphere prevails in the entire district around this visit on Saturday.
There is great enthusiasm and enthusiasm among the local administration, party leaders and activists and the common people.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and inspect several development activities in the district. These include the inauguration of a canal re-excavation project, distribution of family cards among low-income people and review the progress of various development projects. She will also participate in an organizational meeting with the leaders and activists of the district BNP.
Party sources said that the Prime Minister will leave Dhaka for Chandpur in the morning. At 12:30 pm, she will inaugurate a canal re-excavation project in Waruk Bazar area of Tamta Dakshin Union of Shahrasti Upazila. After that, at 1:45 pm, she is scheduled to inaugurate the Bishwa Canal re-excavation project adjacent to Ghosh’s Hat in Kumardugi village of Shahmahmudpur Union of Chandpur Sadar Upazila.
Later, at 3:30 pm, he will inaugurate the family card distribution program by participating in a program organized at Chandpur Government College ground. At the same time, the formal inauguration of the program will be announced simultaneously in 22 districts of the country. Finally, the party chief will attend the organizational meeting of the district BNP at Chandpur Club at 5 pm.
There has also been a lot of interest among local youth regarding the Prime Minister’s visit. Siam Hossain, a student of Chandpur Government College, said they hope that this visit will bring new momentum to the development and employment of the district. He demanded the upgrading of the Chandpur-Comilla road to four lanes, development of the tourism industry and special allocation for the cultural sector.
Chandpur Chamber of Commerce Vice President Tamal Kumar Ghosh said that establishing an export processing zone and economic zone is essential to increase industrialization and investment in the district. At the same time, he commented that effective initiatives are also needed to build permanent dams to prevent river erosion.
Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Ziaur Rahman said that along with the canal re-excavation program, family cards will be distributed among 370 people in a ward of Rajrajeshwar Union. He said that all preparations have been completed by the administration for the Prime Minister’s visit.
Chandpur-3 constituency MP and district BNP president Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik said that Chandpur is a very promising area for industrialization due to its road, water and rail connectivity. He said that if an EPZ is established here, it will create massive employment opportunities for the people of Chandpur and surrounding districts.
