US President Donald Trump has arrived in Beijing to attend an important bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This is Trump’s first visit to China since 2017, which has sparked renewed negotiations in international diplomacy.
Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported that the two leaders of the world’s two largest economies will attend a series of meetings on Thursday and Friday. The meeting is expected to focus on global economy, regional security and technology-based competition.
According to analysts, the ongoing trade tensions, clearing the position on Taiwan, and competition and control in the artificial intelligence sector will be at the center of the discussion. The two sides may also discuss the instability in the Middle East, especially the military position of the United States and Israel around Iran.
Relations between Washington and Beijing have been strained in recent years. The positions of the two countries in the South China Sea and the Taiwan dispute have often reached face-to-face. In such a situation, international relations analysts see Trump’s visit as significant from a diplomatic point of view.
