Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that the ongoing ceasefire with Iran could break down at any time amid the fragile security situation in the Middle East. He expressed his concern at a cabinet meeting on Monday.
Netanyahu said the situation was not stable despite recent diplomatic efforts. Expressing dissatisfaction with Iran’s behavior, he said Tehran had failed to deliver its commitments to meet the conditions of the ceasefire.
According to him, the talks had an important condition—Israel and the United States will stop military operations and in return, Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz. However, the tension has increased as these conditions are not implemented.
Netanyahu defended the recent U.S. move, saying the economic pressures imposed on Iran could help ensure regional security. At the same time, he claimed that Tel Aviv’s strategic relationship with Washington is still intact.
Iran’s nuclear program was also at the center of the talks. According to him, these two issues are crucial for international security, stopping uranium enrichment and removing existing stocks.
Analysts say the break-up could have a major impact not only on regional but also on global energy supply and diplomatic balance.
