The National Sports Council (NSC) has dissolved the current board of directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as part of a sudden change in the cricket administration of Bangladesh.
NSC sports director Aminul Ehsan announced the decision at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
He said the move was based on the review of the report of an inquiry committee formed by the NSC. Details of the investigation report have not been released.
In addition to the dissolution of the board, an 11-member ad hoc committee has been formed for a period of three months, headed by former national team captain Tamim Iqbal. The new committee comprises Rashna Imam, Mirza Yasir Abbas, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khasru, Minhazul Abedin, Athar Ali Khan, Tanzil Chowdhury, Salman Ispahani, Rafiqul Islam and Fahim Sinha.
The NSC said the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been formally informed about the decision and a list of new committees has been sent.
According to analysts, such interference in the administrative structure of the Cricket Board can be noticed by international organizations, especially in the ICC policy of the board’s autonomy. As a result, the impact of this decision may not be limited to the country’s cricket administration.
