The report said that Faisal Karim Masud—also known as Rahul—and another Bangladeshi national, Alamgir Hossain, were arrested by the West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force (STF) on charges of illegally entering and staying in India. They are accused of being involved in serious crimes, including a murder committed in Bangladesh, police said.
An STF statement said that two Bangladeshi nationals had illegally crossed the border and were hiding in the Bangaon area of West Bengal. They were arrested in a raid based on intelligence inputs. A case has been registered against the arrested persons under relevant laws including the Indian Infiltration Act and they have been taken into police custody on the orders of the court.
It is worth mentioning that on December 12, Sharif Osman Hadi was attacked on his way back from campaigning after Friday prayers in Motijheel, the capital. Miscreants on motorcycles opened fire on him in the Box Culvert area under Paltan police station.
He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a seriously injured condition and later sent to Singapore for advanced treatment. He died there on December 18 while undergoing treatment.
