The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has summoned personal bank account information of former interim government advisor and National Citizens Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan .
In a letter sent to 56 scheduled banks and several non-banking financial institutions of the country on Monday, they were asked to submit detailed information on all personal accounts operated in the name of Asif Mahmud within the next three working days, sources said.
Asif Mahmud, who led the Student Rights Council while studying at Dhaka University, later became known as the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement. After the July 2024 mass uprising, he served as an advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labor and Employment in the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus ; he later also received the responsibility of the Ministry of Local Government.
