Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) has filed a chargesheet against 17 people in the murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Shahid Sharif Osman Bin Hadi after completing the investigation. The chargesheet was submitted to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
The investigation has identified Taijul Islam Chowdhury Bappi, former Mirpur ward councilor and organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo League, as the mastermind and instigator of the murder. The investigation report states that the murder was committed out of political vendetta.
Meanwhile, a Kolkata correspondent of a private television channel has revealed that Bappi is currently hiding in Kolkata, India. It has been claimed that he has been staying in a flat in West Beraberi, Methopara area of Rajarhat for the past three months under the identity of a police officer.
DB Additional Police Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam said the investigation into the case is still ongoing and a supplementary charge sheet will be filed if necessary. He said Hadi was disliked by various quarters due to his diverse political stance and critical activities, which played a role in the murder.
