Nine international flights were unable to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Thursday night to Friday morning due to dense fog. These flights were diverted to alternative airports due to reduced runway visibility for safety reasons.
Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Shahjalal Airport, said that four of these flights landed at Chittagong, four at Kolkata and one at Bangkok airports.
He further said that once the weather returns to normal, the airport’s flight operations will resume normally after 9 am. The process of bringing the diverted flights back to Dhaka in phases has also begun.
