The three-day state mourning declared by the government following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia ends today, Friday (January 2).
As part of the mourning period, the national flag has been kept at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions, and all government and private buildings in the country, as well as Bangladesh missions abroad.
After Friday prayers, special prayers will be held in all mosques across the country for the forgiveness of Begum Khaleda Zia. At the same time, special prayers will be held in other religious places of worship for the peace of her soul.
It is worth mentioning that Khaleda Zia’s funeral was held on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Wednesday. Later, she was buried next to the grave of her husband, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. She died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital on Tuesday morning. The government has declared three days of state mourning from December 31 to January 2 following her death.
