Two more parties have joined the eight-party political alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami – the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the National Citizens Party (NCP).
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Sunday afternoon.
Alliance coordinator and Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman announced the names of the two new partners. He said that the LDP and NCP, led by Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed, have officially joined the alliance.
Previously, the alliance included Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Khilafat Majlis, Nejame Islam Party, National Democratic Party and Bangladesh Development Party.
Those concerned believe that the inclusion of two new parties has further expanded the political scope of the alliance ahead of the upcoming national elections.
