The government has declared a day of national mourning on Saturday over the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inquilab Mancha and potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency.
Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus made the announcement in an address to the nation on Thursday night. He said that in the untimely death of Hadi, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, educational institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad.
In addition, special prayers and supplications will be organized in all mosques of the country after Friday prayers to seek forgiveness for the souls of the deceased. It has been announced that special prayers will also be organized in other religious places of worship.
