Journalist Anis Alamgir has been taken into custody of Detective Branch (DB) from Dhanmondi area of Dhaka. He confirmed this at 8pm on Sunday.
He said he is currently in the D.C. Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter, saying that Anis Alamgir was brought to the DB for questioning on certain issues.
Senior journalist Anis Alamgir has worked in various media including the daily newspaper. He has been in the news for a number of recent interviews on television.
Asked whether there was any case against him, the police officer said details would be informed later from the DMP’s media centre.
According to police sources, he was taken to the DB office from a gym in Dhanmondi. So far, no official complaint has been filed.
