Security has been tightened across the hospital as BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia continues her treatment at the capital’s Evercare Hospital.
A visit to the hospital on Wednesday morning showed that members of various forces, including RAB, police and BGB, were patrolling the main gate with barricades in place. Traffic movement was also restricted on one side of the road in front of the gate.
Hospital authorities said that additional measures have been taken to control the crowd so that general patients and visitors do not have difficulty moving around the hospital.
Khaleda Zia, 80, is undergoing treatment in a cabin on the fourth floor of Evercare. The cabins around that floor have been kept empty for security reasons. She was admitted to the hospital on November 23 after being diagnosed with a heart and lung infection. She has been undergoing treatment for various complications including liver cirrhosis for a long time.
SSF members are also involved in the security of the hospital as the government has declared him a ‘very important person’. The law enforcement agency said that in addition to ensuring security, they are constantly on the alert to ensure normal services to patients.
