A school bus parked at a stand in Manikganj’s Shibaloy upazila was set on fire, leaving the driver, Tabez Khan, who was sleeping inside the vehicle, severely burned.
The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Falsatia bus stand area on the Dhaka–Aricha Highway, in front of The Holy Child School and College.
According to locals, the driver had parked the bus at the stand at night and was sleeping inside. Suddenly, a group of miscreants arrived and set the bus ablaze. Within moments, the fire spread, causing critical burn injuries to the driver.
Upon receiving the news, Shibaloy police rushed to the scene, rescued the driver, and admitted him to Manikganj Sadar Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Shibaloy Police Station’s Investigation Officer Manbendra Balo said,
“Police went to the spot after receiving information that a parked school bus had been set on fire. The driver was rescued from inside the bus in critical condition.”
Police stated that the incident is under investigation and legal procedures are underway.
