BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the party practices politics for the welfare of the people. If BNP forms the government with public support in the future, health teams will be established in every village to raise awareness about health among grassroots communities.
He made the remarks on Saturday (October 18) at a free medical camp organized on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation in Bagbari, Gabtali Upazila, Bogura. The camp was conducted under the supervision of the foundation’s vice president and Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr. Zobaida Rahman.
Tarique Rahman emphasized the need to increase awareness for disease prevention. He said, “Even developed countries like the UK struggle with healthcare, yet we are a developing country. Every citizen has the right to medical services. BNP wants every person in the country to stay healthy and for healthcare to reach every village.”
He added that once BNP forms the government, these health teams will work at the village level to reduce illness and hospital admissions. His vision is to build healthy families, healthy villages, upazilas, and districts, creating a healthy Bangladesh. Development will also be accelerated through public-private partnerships, and special programs will be launched for women, farmers, and students.
Dr. Zobaida Rahman said that serving humanity is a responsibility and reiterated that the foundation, which has worked for public welfare for 26 years, will continue to do so and expand its activities in the future.
The free medical camp provided healthcare services to nearly 7,000 patients, with over 100 doctors conducting blood pressure, blood sugar, ECG, and X-ray tests. Other speakers at the event included Dr. Mostafa Aziz Sumon, Dr. Farhad Halim, Helaluzzaman Talukdar Lalu, Professor Dr. Mowdud Hossain, Dr. Alamgir Pavel, Dr. Shah Md. Shahjahan Ali, Morshed Milton, journalist Atikur Rahman Ruman, A.N.M. Monwarul Qadir Bitu, Dr. Yunus Ali, and Dr. M.R. Hasan.
