Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said that all barriers and doubts surrounding the upcoming national election in February have now been resolved. He made the remarks during an exchange meeting with journalists at the Mymensingh Press Club on Friday (October 10) afternoon.
Shafiqul Alam stated, “After many years, we are going to witness a real election. During the past sixteen years under Hasina’s rule, we only saw fake elections. We have moved past that phase — this time it will be one of the best elections in history.”
He further said that the electoral atmosphere has already begun to take shape across the country. “In Jamalpur and Haluaghat, posters and banners of leaders are already visible. Political parties have started announcing their candidates. Within the next two to three weeks, when all parties finalize their candidate lists, the election environment will become even more vibrant,” he added.
The press secretary also mentioned that all political parties have reached a consensus on the “July Charter,” and all of them are set to sign it on the 15th of this month.
Regarding photographer Shahidul Alam, Shafiqul Alam said, “He is currently en route to Istanbul from Israel. His condition is being closely monitored. Once he reaches Istanbul, we will know when he plans to return to Bangladesh.”
He added that the Chief Adviser has expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his role in securing Shahidul Alam’s release.
The meeting was attended by Mymensingh Press Club Vice President Nawab Ali, General Secretary Saiful Islam, Mymensingh Journalists’ Union President M. Ayub Ali, and other journalists from print and electronic media.
