In the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections, Aminul Islam Bulbul has been re-elected as president unopposed. There were no major surprises in the contest for the board director positions, and for the presidency, he faced no opposition.
After being appointed as a director by the National Sports Council on May 30, Bulbul became president unopposed for the first time. This time, he was elected as a director representing the Dhaka Division Sports Council and directly assumed the presidency.
The two vice-president positions were also uncontested. Faruk Ahmed and Shakhawat Hossain were elected unopposed. Faruk, who lost the BCB presidency four months ago, has now returned to a major role. Shakhawat Hossain had previously been appointed as the board’s tourism advisor.
There have been allegations that the Sports Advisor exerted strong influence over the entire election process. As a result, 21 candidates, including Tamim Iqbal, withdrew their nominations, citing government interference and various irregularities.
Thus, the leadership of the BCB once again rests with former national team captain Aminul Islam Bulbul.
