The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has crossed the Odisha coast of India and is now lying over coastal Odisha and adjoining areas as a land deep depression. According to the Meteorological Department, it may continue to move northwestward and gradually weaken.
However, due to pressure differences over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions, strong gusty winds are likely to prevail. For this reason, local cautionary signal No. 3 has been advised to remain in force at the country’s four seaports—Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra.
The Met Office has also advised fishing boats and trawlers over the northern Bay of Bengal to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
