Bangladesh has strongly condemned Israel for detaining the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was carrying humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, from international waters.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the detention and arrest of the aid workers is a clear violation of international law and a gross affront to humanity. Bangladesh demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all detained personnel and called for ensuring their safety.
The statement further urged Israel to withdraw from the illegally occupied Gaza and West Bank, comply with international human rights law, and end the blockade and violence in Gaza.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the flotilla symbolizes global solidarity with the Palestinian people. It reaffirmed that the government and people of Bangladesh stand firmly with Palestinians in their time of dire suffering and will continue to extend unwavering support.
