Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman has said that there is no legal barrier to implementing the July Charter, as per the decision of the National Consensus Commission. He made the remarks on Friday (October 3) while speaking to journalists after a views-exchange meeting at Johan Dream Valley Park in Jhenaidah.
He stated that during the Awami League’s rule, those in the administration who were not involved in major crimes would continue to serve the country and the state. However, he added that the government would make decisions considering the severity of individual crimes.
In response to a question about whether free and fair elections are possible under the current administration, the Attorney General said the Election Commission is aware of the issue and will work to establish a neutral administration ahead of the polls.
He further noted that whenever the people of Bangladesh feel insecure under fascist rule, they restructure the state, protest, and even sacrifice their lives for the country.
As part of the day’s program, a seminar titled “Development Vision: Context of Jhenaidah” was organized in the afternoon with the participation of professionals, business leaders, and academics.
