Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a series of protests demanding five key issues, including holding elections based on the National Charter. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon at a press conference by the party’s Naib-e-Amir, Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher.
He stated that protest marches will be held on September 18 in Dhaka, September 19 in divisional cities, and September 26 across the country. If the government fails to announce elections under the proportional representation (PR) system, Jamaat, along with like-minded parties, will take to the streets.
The five demands of Jamaat are:

Holding elections in February based on the July National Charter.

Implementing the PR system in national elections.

Ensuring a level playing field.

Investigating the oppression and corruption of the fascist government.

Banning the activities of the National Party and the 14-party alliance.
It is noted that Jamaat and several other Islamic parties have long been demanding elections under the PR system. They are prepared to mobilize for their demands, although the BNP opposes this demand.
