Bangladesh’s toughest challenge today is the unresolved Rohingya issue—such remarks came from Interim Government’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain. Speaking at the opening of the Bengal Delta Conference 2025 in Shahbagh, Dhaka, he said, “This crisis is growing more complex every day. The key question is—will the new generation growing up in refugee camps accept such a life in the future?”
He warned that Myanmar’s plan had always been to permanently drive the Rohingyas out of their homeland, making repatriation prospects slim. He also pointed to shifting global realities—atrocities in Gaza, the Russia-Ukraine war, and a new India-China equation reshaping regional geopolitics.
Yet amid the despair, he also offered hope. “In July 2024, Bangladesh’s youth leadership defeated fascism and opened a new horizon. Within the next 10–15 years, visionary politics will take root here,” he said, stressing the need for skill-based and knowledge-driven education from primary to higher levels.
Touhid Hossain expressed confidence that a properly prepared young generation will become the driving force for Bangladesh’s stability and progress.
