Biman Bangladesh Airlines has achieved an unprecedented profit of Tk 937 crore (unaudited) in the 2024-25 fiscal year, marking the highest earnings in its 55-year history. The national flag carrier announced this milestone in a press release on Monday, crediting strategic resource management, operational efficiency, and enhanced passenger services for this record-breaking performance. Previously, the airline’s second-highest profit was Tk 440 crore in FY 2021-22.
Starting its journey in 1972 with a modest revenue of Tk 1.9 crore, Biman has transformed into a modern, competitive airline. In FY 2024-25, its revenue soared to Tk 11,631.37 crore, crossing the Tk 10,000-crore mark for the first time in FY 2023-24. The airline’s current fleet includes 19 owned aircraft, including fuel-efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with in-house maintenance capabilities reducing costs and ensuring safety compliance.
This fiscal year, Biman transported 3.4 million passengers and 43,918 tons of cargo, achieving an 82% cabin load factor—a significant year-on-year growth. Improved in-flight services, faster baggage handling, and digital upgrades have boosted customer satisfaction. With plans to expand routes, digitize operations, and strengthen cargo services, Biman aims to emerge as a leading airline in South Asia while upholding its commitment to safety and national pride.
