A case has been filed in Satkhira Sadar Police Station after a group of men allegedly assaulted and forcibly ejected assistant teacher Shafiqur Rahman from Balli Mujibur Rahman Secondary School.
The victim teacher lodged the case on Sunday (August 17) at 11 PM against eight named individuals and four to five unidentified persons. The accused include:
On Saturday (August 16), Shafiqur Rahman remained with a female student in a second-floor classroom for 37 minutes after school hours. The next morning, UP member Rabiul Islam and locals complained to the headmaster.
When no immediate action was taken, a mob of 10-12 people—led by BNP leader Selim Akter Montu and Chhatra Dal leader Kamruzzaman Sabuj—stormed the school with sticks, rods, and hammers around 10 AM. They attacked Shafiqur in the office, dragged him out, and detained him at the union parishad building. Colleagues and students later rescued him.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station’s Operations Inspector Sushanta Kumar Ghosh confirmed the case was filed under charges of assault and unlawful confinement. Raids are ongoing to arrest the accused.
The incident highlights growing tensions over teacher-student misconduct allegations and political interference in educational institutions. Local authorities are under pressure to ensure school safety and impartial investigations.
