
Six more people have died in the country with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. However, no patient confirmed to have measles died during this period. At the same time, 1,291 people have been identified as suspected measles patients. Of these, 102 have been confirmed to have measles.
This information was announced in a health news release from the Integrated Control Center of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday.
According to the notification, these deaths and new cases were reported from 8 am on Monday to 8 am on Tuesday in different parts of the country. Since March 15 this year, a total of 199,130 people have been identified as suspected measles patients in the country. Of these, 21,910 have been confirmed to have measles.
During this period, 176,516 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. 169,290 were discharged after treatment.
In the last 24 hours, 1,180 people have been admitted to hospitals and 1,148 have been discharged after recovering. Six suspected measles patients have died during this period. Of them, two died in Dhaka and Chittagong and one each in Barisal and Khulna.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that a total of 1,032 people have died from suspected measles since March 15. Of these, 102 deaths were confirmed due to measles. No confirmed measles patient died in the last 24 hours.
Most suspected patients in Dhaka
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of suspected measles patients among the divisions have been identified in Dhaka—486. This is followed by 260 in Chittagong, 164 in Sylhet, 123 in Barisal, 111 in Khulna, 85 in Mymensingh, 35 in Rangpur, and 27 in Rajshahi.
At the same time, Dhaka is also ahead in the number of confirmed measles cases. 82 people have been confirmed to have measles in the division. In addition, 13 people have been identified in Chittagong and seven in Rangpur.
