
The dengue outbreak in the country has taken a more serious turn. A record 10 people have died of dengue in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 1,996 new dengue cases have been admitted to hospitals.
With this, the number of dengue deaths this year has increased to 281.
This information was given in a dengue press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (October 6).
According to the notification, the highest number of dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours in Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation). 480 people have been admitted there. Then 302 in Khulna division, 294 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 252 in Chittagong division, 204 in Barisal division, 199 in Rajshahi division, 187 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 96 in Mymensingh division, 75 in Rangpur division and 18 in Sylhet division.
According to the Department of Health, a total of 90,356 people have been hospitalized in the country due to dengue as of October 6 this year. Of these, 84,299 have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
This year’s dengue situation has raised new concerns as the number of deaths in the last 24 hours has reached 10. A total of 281 people have died so far this year.
The situation compared to last year
According to the Department of Health, a total of 1 lakh 2 thousand 861 people were infected with dengue in the country from January 1 to December 31, 2025. 413 people died of dengue that year.
With three months left this year, the death toll from dengue has reached 281. Along with this, the number of patients admitted to hospitals due to the disease has also exceeded 90,000.
