
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has announced that four new subjects will be added to the sixth grade curriculum from 2027. The new subjects are – enjoyable education, technical education, sports and culture.
The Education Minister made this information in response to questions from journalists after inaugurating the 53rd National Summer Sports Competition at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Comilla on Tuesday.
The minister said that students will be involved in enjoyable learning, technical education, sports and culture from the sixth grade onwards. Through this, along with conventional studies, importance will be given to the practical knowledge, creativity and physical and mental development of the students.
He said that changes and refinements will be made to the educational program as needed from 2028. More new books may be added to the curriculum, taking into account the needs of students and the needs of the time.
Regarding admission to higher secondary, the education minister said that there has been some delay in the admission process due to the lower number of eligible candidates compared to the seats. He also said that work is underway to include Nawab Faizunnesa in the textbook.
Meanwhile, the special guest of the event, Prime Minister’s Advisor and Spokesperson Mahdi Amin, said that due to the impact of the Middle East war, the prices of gas and oil have increased in the global market. However, the price of diesel in Bangladesh is still comparatively low compared to neighboring countries. The government is trying to control the price by providing higher subsidies on fuel oil in Bangladesh compared to other countries.
He said the government is trying its best to deal with the current crisis caused by the global situation. The government is working towards managing the situation rationally with as little pressure on the people as possible.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Suman and Comilla-10 MP Mobasher Alam Bhuiyan were special guests at the event.
Apart from this, Director General of the Directorate of Madrasa Education Md. Shahadat Hossain, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education Abul Khair Mohammad Akkas Ali, Administrator of Comilla City Corporation Md. Yusuf Molla Tipu, Director of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Md. Sakhawat Hossain Khan and Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Syed Akhtaruzzaman along with officials from various departments were present as invited guests.
Students from all education boards of the country participated in the national summer sports competition at the event presided over by Comilla Education Board Chairman Professor Md. Ahsan Parvez.
