Major (retd) is the accused in the murder case of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Feni during the mass uprising on July 24. The International Crimes Tribunal has shown the arrest of Mozaffar Hossain. He was also allowed to interrogate him for two days in the interest of the investigation.
A three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury passed the order on Thursday (July 23rd). The other two members of the bench are Judge Md. Manjurul Basid and Judge Noor Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
Chief Prosecutor Md. At the hearing at the Aminul Islam tribunal, Mozaffar sought an additional two-month period to show his arrest in a case of crimes against humanity, permission for two days of interrogation and filing an investigation report. At the end of the hearing, the tribunal fixed the date for filing the investigation report on September 23rd, allowing two days of interrogation at a convenient time of the investigation agency.
Earlier in the morning, Mozaffar Hossain was produced before the tribunal. He is currently lodged in the Dhaka Cantonment.
Retired Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury was also produced before the tribunal on Thursday in the same case. The prosecution claimed that Mozaffar’s involvement in various crimes against humanity committed during the long rule of the Awami League government has been found. He was alleged to have been in regular contact with Masud Uddin Chowdhury in the murders that took place in Feni during the July mass uprising.
Mozaffar Hossain was arrested from a house in the capital’s Banani on July 15 after being on the run for about 45 years. The next day, he was handed over to the police of Dhaka Cantonment.
