Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled Gazi Nazrul Islam, a member of parliament from Satkhira-4 constituency. The group said that after a video of her personal moment with a teenage girl went viral on social media, the organisational investigation proved her allegations of moral turmoil.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the central executive council of Jamaat held at the opposition leader’s official residence on Mintu Road in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Shafiqur Rahman
According to a press release published by Jamaat, the organisational investigation conducted in recent media reports has proved the moral turmoil of Gazi Nazrul Islam. On the basis of this, he has been expelled from the party under section 62 of the party constitution.
The central executive council also decided to immediately inform the Bangladesh Election Commission of Bangladesh.
