The police have arrested the chairman of the hospital, Shahed Karim, again. On Monday (July 20th), the cantonment police arrested him from the ECB premises area of the capital.
According to the police, he has been arrested for the execution of the arrest warrant issued by the court in a case of Pallabi police station. The operation was conducted by the cantonment police station based on the demand of the police.
Shahed has been accused of fraud, corruption, fraud, and weapons for a long time. Earlier on August 21, 2023, the court sentenced him to three years in prison in a case of acquiring assets worth about Rs 69 lakh out of known income.
Earlier, he was arrested from the Devhata border area of Satkhira on July 15, 2020. At that time, the corona test of Regent Hospital caused a lot of discussion across the country over fraud and fraud. Thirty-six cases were filed against him, including a gun case.
Shahed was later released on bail from Dhaka Central Jail on September 4, 2022. Police said there were a total of ninety-six cases against him. He was convicted in five of the cases, but was released on bail in various cases.
The court also sentenced him to six months in jail and a fine of Rs 53 lakh in a cheque fraud case on August 18, 2010.
After his last arrest, he will be produced before the court and further legal action will be taken, police said.
