PM announces maximum punishment for Ramisa murder within a month

  • Tarique Rahman has announced that the maximum punishment will be ensured within a month against those responsible for the killing of child Ramisa Akhter in the capital’s Pallabi.

    He was speaking at the national programme of the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Trishal on Saturday.

    The Prime Minister said the degradation of human and moral values in the society has reached an alarming level in recent times. He said the brutal killing of Ramisa was a terrible example of that degradation.

    He said the present government will not accept crimes like violence against women and children. He said the maximum punishment would be taken to ensure a speedy trial against those involved in the murder of Ramisa.

    The prime minister said strict action has been taken so that no one dares to carry out such barbaric abuse against children or women in the future.

    He stressed the need for establishing the rule of law to build a human and safe state. He also stressed the need for social, religious and cultural values to be revived.

    On the occasion, he mentioned the ideals and human spirit of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam as important for the reconstruction of society.

    Earlier on Thursday night, the prime minister visited Ramisa’s house in Pallavi and met the bereaved family members and assured them of speedy justice.

    The three-day event was organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs at the Nazrul Academy ground. Ministers, cultural personalities, academics and local public representatives of the government were present on the occasion.
