Tarique Rahman urged all to be vigilant against attempts to destabilise the law and order situation in the country. He said this at a rally held after the inauguration of the canal re-excavation programme at Trishal on Saturday.
The prime minister alleged that a group is trying to create anarchy in the country in a planned way. He said those who want to create chaos are in secret contact with the ousted forces in the past.
He said the government is committed to establishing the rule of law in the country. However, the state must follow the prescribed legal procedures to ensure the trial and punishment of the crime.
At the rally, the prime minister said some individuals and groups have been creating public suffering through various programmes, including road blockades in recent times. He described such activities as an obstacle to the rule of law.
He said any conspiracy will be tackled with the people and the government will take necessary measures to maintain peace and stability in the country.
Local administration officials, political leaders and people of different classes and professions were present on the occasion.
